12. Román Vega

Born in San Miguel (Argentina) in 2004, Román Vega arrived in summer 2022 from Asociación Atlética Argentina Juniors. The defender started out in the Argentinos Juniors youth development system at the tender age of four years old, before moving through the age groups until he joined the Gaby Milito-coached Argentina Juniors first team squad, aged only 18 years old.

His good performances have seen him regularly called up to the under-20 Argentina squad, coached by another former Barça player, Javier Mascherano.

Technical profile

He is a quality and versatile left back who makes penetrating runs. He normally plays as a fullback, but can also play anywhere on the flank and as a winger, while also being able to fill in at centre back. He is left footed but his ability to play different positions have made him a very useful player to have in the squad. Defensively, he is strong and reliable, while in attack he is known for being able to bring the ball out, making incisive pases, and for quick decision making.
