Catela, born in Cádiz, plays on the left wing and arrived as a free agent in March 2022 from the disbanded Samara of Russia. He passed his medical and immediately joined the squad.
After debuting with Jerez in 1993, Catela made his big break with D-Link Zaragoza in 2013/14. The following year he joined Santiago Futsal and was there for three seasons before moving on to Palma Futsal from 2018 to 2020, and then he switched to Valdepeñas until last January when he was transferred to Russian side Samara after they paid his buyout clause. However, he never got to make his debut for a club that was dissolved soon after.
Catela is one of the rising stars in the Spanish games, who has come to bolster the left flank that currently only boasts Matheus and Esquerdinha.
