Ángel Fernández started playing handball in his native Cantabria with Astillero before he moved to Teka Cantabria in 2006. After two seasons he moved to Club Deportivo Torrebalonmano in the second division where he established himself as one of the top goalscorers in the category.
In the summer of 2013 he moved to Naturhouse La Rioja in the ASOBAL league where he also made his debut in the EHF Champions League.
Fernández spent three seasons between 2018-21 winning the league title twice and the domestic cup. During his time in the ASOBAL league he was named between left winger three campaigns in a row between 2016 and 2018.
With the Spanish national sides he has won the European Championships twice, in 2018 and 2020 as well as bronze medals in the Mediterranean Games in 2018 and the World Championships in 2021.
A player who stands out for his height that allows him to play on the wing or at the back.
