Barça 32-18 Puente Genil: Great win to get back on track

Carlos Ortega's team return to winning ways in the league after European slip up

Back to winning ways for Barça after a disappointing defeat in the Champions League against Montpellier. Carlos Ortega's team defeated Puente Genil 32-18 at the Palau, their 1,000th game in the competition, with Òscar Grau making his debut for the first team.

Desire for the win

Barça got off to a good start, clearly motivated after the slip up in Europe against the French side. Dika Mem scored three of the blaugranes' opening five goals and keeper Pérez de Vargas made 16 saves from 23 shots from the visitors.

Some of the younger players got some valuable experience with Grau amongst them and at the end of the first half the blaugranes led 14-7

Extending the lead

The second half saw the blaugranes stretch their lead with Pérez de Vargas remaining in commanding form. The 32-18 win was Barça's 20th of the season in the league as they moves toward another domestic title. With an international break coming up, Carlos Ortega's team are not back in action until a game against Benidorm on 23 March.
